Tonight, I derived some small satisfaction from pointing out the rise of the gorgeous, golden, full moon to the members of the Covenant Worship Center walking from Wednesday night services to their cars.

They were very friendly and tolerant of the (crazy? nice?) white woman as I stood upon the sidewalk and said my prayers.
  • It was overcast here in the Upper Valley last night, so while I was looking forward to watching the moon rise above the trees in the paddock, it wasn't gonna happen.

But, as I sat in the guest room and worked on some beading, I could feel her - how big and powerful and beautiful she was! Heh - shades of "Moonstruck"...

  • Covenant Worship Center?

    What is that?
    • Re: Covenant Worship Center?

Local little African American storefront church that rocks out on Wednesday nights.

O.k. at the risk of badgering you. What is a "storefront church"?
        I swear I got a degree in R.S. Honest!

You've obviously never lived in a densely urban area. "Storefront churches" are tiny congregations that can barely support their pastor, but manage to get enough money together to pay the rent on a little store where they set up chairs, a pulpit, and hold their meetings. The Mission district in San Francisco is full of these. Sometimes you can walk by on a weekday eve and hear tambourines and singing and peaking in, will see five people in the congregation rocking out. They are busier on Sundays, of course. These are common amongst African American and Latino communities.

Covenant Worship Center, which I mentioned, is a little bigger than this, but still fairly small - not a big "church" building - and actually have quite full, lively Wednesday eve services along with Sundays. They've got quite the band.

Huh. There's even a wikipedia article on the subject:

The closest Ive ever been is S.J. and that wasn't for very long, and it was full of sex shops and the like rather than churches.
            Thanks though! All very interesting!
  • We were still at the park when the moon came up all golden on the horizon. It was stunning and breathtaking.

My little one seems to have grown out of her exhuberance for yelling 'Hail to the moon' when she sees the moon in the evening. I'm going to have to remind her of how cool it is to greet the moon with a good 'hail'. :-)

  • :D
i've been texting, calling and emailing my boyfriend about the moon's moon-ness for the past 2-3 days now. he's gonna get it!!
  • I left the light off so I could see the moon while I did my excersizes last night. Shining through the strips of cloud that served only to highlight how gorgeous and bright it was.

I'd walked up the stairs in the dark, for once not being so nervous of the dark that I *had* to put the lights on, and was rewarded by the moon shining unexpectedly thought the bedroom window.

    Happy Thoughts.
